Aqualyx is an injectable fat loss treatment. It is a gel-based solution, derived from deoxycholic acid, which is naturally produced by our bile ducts to help up break down fats.

This ingredient has extensive clinical research behind its use and effectiveness for the treatment of small pockets of localised fat.

This solution was developed by Professor Pasquale Motolese, president of the Italian Society of Aesthetics and Medicine, and has been in use since 2009.

The area is numbed with a topical anaesthetic prior to treatment. Once prepared, the solution is injected via a series of injections. Depending on the treatment area, a cannula (blunt needle) may be used. The area is then gently massaged and you will be provided post-procedure aftercare to follow for optimised results.

The action of the solution causes fat cells to be disrupted and break down. Over the following weeks, your body's natural metabolic processes kick in. The broken down fat cells are gradually metabolised and eliminated via the lymphatic system. This process typically takes several weeks to a few months.This gradual elimination results in a gradual reduction of fat cells in the treated area.

This treatment is not suitably in pregnancy and lactation, liposdystrophy and for those under 18 years or over 60 years.

It is not a weight loss solution, and only suitable for small, localised pockets of fat. We offer weight loss solutions for those with a BMI over 30.

As well as a topical anaesthetic used to numb the treatment area, the solution is mixed with a local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort.

Bruising and swelling may occur with this treatment. The treatment area may also be tender. Please allow up to two weeks for this to settle.

Depending on the treatment area, results may be seen within 3-6 weeks of treatment. A treatment course may be recommended for optimal results.

It is recommended to repeat the procedure between 2-8 times depending on the treatment area, every three to four weeks.

In the days leading up to your appointment, avoid medications and supplements that can thin your blood, such as aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, and fish oil supplements, unless prescribed. These can increase the risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Refrain from consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as alcohol can also increase the risk of bruising and swelling.

Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to keep your skin hydrated and promote optimal results.

It's normal to experience swelling, redness, and tenderness in the treated area for a few days following the injections. This is a natural part of the healing process and should gradually subside.

Refrain from engaging in strenuous exercise or activities that may increase blood flow to the treated area for at least 24 to 48 hours after the procedure. Elevated heart rate and blood pressure can exacerbate swelling and bruising.

Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, which can help promote healing and flush out toxins from the body.
