RADIESSE

What it treats
Unlike the majority of dermal fillers that are comprised predominantly of hyaluronic acid, Radiesse is unique formulation of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a gel carrier.
Similar to Hyaluronic Acid (HA) dermal fillers, when injected as such, Radiesse delivers an immediate lift and can be used to replace lost volume and contour for a fresher appearance.
The innovation of Radiesse is not limited to its instant, volumising effects when used as a dermal filler. Radiesse can also be used as a collagen stimulating injectable, when administered in a diluted suspension, to improve the skin’s elasticity and strength.

How it works
The process of collagen stimulation is caused by the absorption of CaHA microspheres. Radiesse is injected under the skin, providing an immediate and visible correction to the wrinkles and hollowness.
When injected, the gel carrier gradually dissolves and the microspheres remain in place, providing a structural scaffold that stimulates fibroblasts, responsible for collagen production. Neocollagenesis, the gradual growth of your own collagen, continues for a year or longer. Radiesse also builds elastin, responsible for strength, tightening and elasticity of the skin.
Over time, the CaHA microspheres are naturally metabolised by the body, leaving behind only the newly formed collagen structures. The outcome is a longer-lasting correction, which goes beyond superficial enhancements, providing depth, volume, and a remarkably natural look.

What to expect
Prior to procedure, we have a full consultation to discuss your treatment goals.
Radiesse will be injected into the specified area(s) requiring a gentle volume enhancement. This may vary from person to person, but this would typically be around the temples, jawline and lower outer areas of the face. Radiesse can also be used for skin rejuvenation in other areas of the body experiencing skin laxity, including the neck, décolletage, as well as the hands.
The solution is then firmly massaged to ensure the bio-stimulatory filler is evenly distributed.
Suitability
This treatment is suitable for all skin types and tones for gentle volume replacement. If you already have a fuller face, this treatment may not be as beneficial.
Radiesse is especially suited for those who have experienced volume loss from ageing or weight loss.
For optimum anti-ageing results, SkinPen Microneedling is recommended alongside your treatment plan.
You cannot have this treatment when pregnant or breastfeeding.

Downtime

What’s the difference between Sculptra and Radiesse?
Sculptra is a biostimulator that consists of Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA), used to restore volume. Its mechanism of action triggers an inflammatory response for collagen production. Radiesse filler is composed of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA). They are both biostimulators that induce skin rejuvenation by stimulating collagen production in the skin.
Although they are both safe procedures if injected by experienced medical professionals, there is a higher risk of nodule formation with the use of Sculptra in comparison to Radiesse, based on clinical studies.
Both bio-stimulatory products offer immediate and long-lasting results, however Radiesse is more versatile and can be used for contouring, volumisation, definition as well as skin rejuvenation.
